Spend the winter working in the French Alps!
We have an opening for a couple (or 2 friends) to work as Chalet Host / Food Service during the coming winter Ski Season, based in our Aravis Lodge chalet, sleeping up to 40 people near the ski resorts of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.
With over 220km of pistes the resorts are popular with our returning British guests, but are still predominantly French, meaning you won’t be based in a ‘mini-Britain’ as you are in some of the bigger resorts.
The role of a Chalet Host is to manage the serving, delivery and clearing of all meals in the chalet. You will work closely with our chef team who have responsibility for cooking the food - although you will work alongside them in preparing, serving and the presentation of the meals. In addition you will take full responsibility for breakfast (including cooking hot options) and also the layout and delivery of afternoon tea and cakes.
Your kitchen duties will include basic food preparation as well as waiting /serving to the tables, plus all the associated kitchen porter duties and washing up. Previous experience is not essential although would be beneficial - as would any Food Hygiene qualifications or previous catering or food prep experience. Full training will be given and enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving dynamic kitchen environment is most important.
You can generally expect an early start for breakfast but would be finished by mid-morning, followed by the afternoon off. Evening duties of afternoon tea and dinner service will complete your day. A full day off is taken mid week. You will receive 120€ a week each (after tax). Your accommodation will be a comfortable and spacious apartment close to the lodge and will be fully furnished and equipped.

We would require our Chalet Host couple, or two friends, to have a welcoming attitude and a good eye for detail and list cleanliness, friendliness and flexibility as strong points. You will be a main point of contact for guests, so you must be able to build good relationships with the customers and assist them in all aspects of their skiing holiday.
Applicants will ideally need a UK or EU passport or a French working visa, although UK visas may be sufficient for the right candidate. |
